The Ryder Cup will mark Trump's third appearance at a New York sporting event in September, as he went to Yankee Stadium for a baseball game to honor U.S. heroes on the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, as well as attended the men's U.S. Open final on Sept. 7.

With overnight campers and tailgating parties, there has been a clamour in recent months to play Bethpage Black - the first municipal course to host the Ryder Cup.
