The win over Arkansas changed things, though. Memphis overcame an 18-point deficit to beat the Razorbacks 32-31 and establish itself as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender. The Tigers now turn to American Conference play, where they'll face Florida Atlantic (1-2) on Sept. 27 (6 p.m., ESPN2) in Boca Raton.

“Being from Arkansas and that being one of the schools I committed to coming out of high school, it has always been my dream to play at the University of Memphis and beat Arkansas,” Williams said. “And I never had that opportunity when I played, and that was one of the gripes that I had in college football.

The Arkansas Razorbacks (2-1) head over to play the Memphis Tigers (3-0) in a non-conference battle on Saturday. The Tigers have won three straight games, including a 28-7 victory over Troy on Sept. 13. After consecutive double-digit wins, the Razorbacks fell to No. 13 Ole Miss, 41-35, last week.
