Thousands of University of California and California State University system workers are unsure about their jobs and the future of their research after reports that President Donald Trump is going after the federal funding for California.

The Trump administration is preparing to cancel a large swath of federal funding to California, an effort which could begin as soon as Friday, according to multiple sources.

The White House asked Congress his week to claw back $9.4 billion in federal funding approved this year, including more than $1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Congress has until mid-July to consider the request.
