The City of West Des Moines built a unique partnership with the private sector to bring a one-of-its-kind sports facility to Central Iowa. The RecPlex includes a 113,500 sq ft arena with two sheets of ice, plus a 14,500 sq ft concourse. The fieldhouse with mezzanine seating for spectators, is nearly 100,000 square feet and includes a full-sized turfed soccer field that converts into netted fields. Additionally, court sports, such as basketball and volleyball are accommodated with 26,000 sq ft of convertible hardcourt. The outdoor amenities include three full-sized, lighted and artificially turfed fields for soccer, lacrosse, and football. On-site parking can manage up to 1000 vehicles. The RecPlex opened in late summer 2021.
